Stag Tips for Budapest

Survival Tips for Stags
Budapest is a great city and very safe BUT we prefer to give you the worst scenarios in advance so that you are aware of the possible pitfalls before the alcohol starts. Can you imagine how long this list would be if you had to write down the possible dangers in London, Dublin, Liverpool or Manchester ? Ok, here goes, our survival tips for you:
Exchange money when you arrive in Budapest but NOT in your home country or Budapest airport, you will get up to 15% more than if you exchange in the U.K or Ireland. Your guide can arrange a trip to a local bureau de change in the city center which gives excellent rates and no commission. Guaranteed you.ll get a minimum of 10% more !
A word of caution to those intrigued by mysterious, beautiful women on the street asking you to buy them a drink - DON'T ! It could cost you hundreds of Euros. Read more below on the page footer!
Exit FEES are a new practice being used against stag groups. Basically you go into a strip club thinking its ok then they whack you with a 600 Euro EXIT FEE to be able to leave the "establishment". We will give your group a SAFE LIST of clubs at the airport when you arrive. To date, none of our groups have been caught out except 2 guys who arrived 1 day earlier than our group and decided to venture out into the night without our list.
Be careful in bars and restaurants! You should always check your bill. Sometimes the standard 10% service fee is already on the bill but the waiter will make you believe it's not. You should also BEFORE ordering check the price of what you are ordering! This seems obvious but imagine being given a bill for £17 a beer, it happens. Check in advance!
English credit and debit cards are not so welcome in Hungarian "holes in the walls". If you prefer cash advances in Budapest on your card head to a branch of OTP BANK, they are UK and Irish card friendly.
Budapest weather is similar to London in the winter, maybe a tab colder, BUT very very hot in the summer. It averages about 30 degrees but can be as high as 42 degrees, bring sunblock during the summer months.
Always call taxi by phone. Never stop a cab on the street. Most of taxis are ok, but foreigners don't know which car is official and which driver works independently with very high rates. If you manage your stag weekend by yourself, better to call taxi by phone, for example: +36 1 222 2222 (F.taxi) or +36 1 555 5555 (Tele5). These companies are safe and even cheaper if you pre book by phone!
HUNGARIAN MONEY (FORINTS)
The money in Hungary is called Forints or HUF for short.
We would recommend you exchange your money in Budapest NOT in your home country. You get up to 15% more in Hungary but don't change at Budapest airport, it's the same price as your home country!
On the right there is a list of the various Hungarian notes. The most common note is a 1000 HUF which is equivalent to about £3 or 4 Euros.

25 Guys, Stag Weekend
budapest airport transfer testimonial Hi Michael! I just wanted to say a big thanks, from all of us, for helping us have such a great weekend. Highlights were that first bar you took us to, drinking lots of unicum and palinka on Saturday, and the Gellert spa on Sunday. The worst part was getting completely whipped in 4Play on Friday night, and being stood on by a lady in stiletto heels. I have belt marks and bruises! So thanks again, we all had a fab time.

A word of caution to those intrigued by mysterious, beautiful women asking you to buy them a drink - DON'T. High-end and low-end clubs will charge exorbitant drink prices with your beautiful companion ending up sipping on water disguised in a champagne goblet. Even coffee shops can be a trap when a beautiful woman talks you into buying her a cup of coffee, one that can end up costing you hundreds of Euros.

Be aware also that most strip clubs pay a 'taxi commission' to any independent taxi that takes a group to the clubs. Those guests end up being 'taken' by the highly inflated price of beers charged to the group - in English pounds that can be mean paying between £4-£14 per beer! We are NOT paid a taxi commission and stag groups that book with our company are charged under £ 3 per beer or 1000 HUF. If you care to indulge in a private dance, it lasts approximately two songs and the uniform price is about 10,000 HUF or £ 27, exclusive of drinks.
